Privacy Policy
Squishy is a Chrome extension that runs entirely on your device. We collect as little data as possible because we don't need it to make the product work. This policy explains exactly what we do and do not handle.
The short version
- Everything you configure in the extension stays on your device in Chrome's local storage.
- We have no servers that collect your browsing data, focus history, mascot state, or schedules.
- The only purchase data that leaves your browser is the information needed to activate Premium through Polar.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising tools inside the extension.
What's stored on your device
Squishy uses Chrome's storage.local to keep your settings and progress. This data never leaves your browser unless you back it up yourself. It includes:
- Your mascot's name and equipped skin
- The block groups and schedules you create, including domains you choose to block
- Your focus settings: session duration, break duration, difficulty, sound preferences, and toggles
- Your daily and lifetime stats: focus sessions completed, minutes focused, blocked-site hits, and streak history
- Your mascot's current happiness value
- Whether you have active Premium access and, if so, the purchase or activation details needed to validate it
You can clear all of this at any time by removing the extension from Chrome. Uninstalling deletes the local storage.
Site blocking
Squishy uses Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API to redirect blocked domains to its takeover page. The list of domains you block is stored locally and is matched by Chrome itself. Squishy does not log which sites you visit, blocked or otherwise. The only counters we maintain are aggregate hit counts per domain for your stats page, and those counters stay on your device.
Premium checkout and Polar
Purchases of Premium are processed by Polar. When you buy Premium, you complete checkout through Polar. Polar collects the information needed to process the payment, handle tax, issue receipts, provide your license key, and support refunds. Their privacy practices are described at polar.sh/legal/privacy.
To activate Premium inside Squishy, the extension stores only the purchase, license, or activation details needed to confirm access and show your status in the Account section. We do not send your block lists, schedules, focus history, mascot state, or browsing activity with a purchase validation request.
The extension may re-validate your Premium access periodically to confirm it is still active. This validation is limited to purchase or activation identifiers needed to check Premium status.
Timer sounds
Squishy can play local chime sounds when focus or break sessions end. These sounds are generated inside the extension. No timer or sound data is sent to any server.
Cookies and tracking
The extension does not set or read cookies. It does not use analytics, advertising IDs, fingerprinting, or session replay tools.
This website (squishyapp.com) uses Google Fonts for typography. Google may receive your IP address when the font files load, per their standard CDN behavior. We do not run any analytics or tracking on this site.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We do not share your local Squishy data with advertisers, analytics tools, or tracking services.
The only third party that handles purchase data on our behalf is Polar, and only for the purpose of processing your purchase, handling tax and receipts, supporting refunds, providing license keys, and validating Premium access as described above.
Your rights
Because Squishy stores your data locally on your own device, you have full control of it. You can:
- Inspect your stored data in Chrome's extension developer tools
- Delete all of it by uninstalling the extension
- Deactivate Premium from the Account section, which removes locally stored purchase or activation details used for Premium validation
For data Polar holds about your purchase, contact them directly via the link above.
Children
Squishy is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not install the extension.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted on the Squishy website. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
